Life

My jeans grow ever tighter,
As this child inside me grows,
And I feel his tiny movements,
As he punts me a few blows.

His tiny body, so fragile,
Depends upon my care,
And I wonder how anyone
Could ever even dare,

Suggest this babe inside
Isn’t even life,
Proposing he’s a tumor,
To cause a woman strife.

If they could ever feel,
How strong he grows each day,
Or hear his beating heart,
Or see his image play,

Across the tiny screen,
Of the ultrasound,
They would never dare,
To say his life’s not found,

To be just as valid as mine,
Or even as their own,
This beautiful life inside me,
Whom even God has known.

Jeremiah 1:5 ¬ "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you…"
