T’was a dreary night
When my lover came home.
Sodden through and through
From the snow.
Fire in the hearth.
Warms the chill
From the bones
As the frozen
Winter wind blows.
Screeching and howling
All through the night.
Preying on the innocent
As they lie awake
Screaming in fright.
Snow pelted at the window
Add extra distress.
Letting shadows
Seep into the room
Giving no rest.
Snuggled together in bed
All warm and tight
From the monsters
On this moonless night
