Trading asphalt for cobblestone,
City street lights for starry skies,
Concrete jungles for forest glades,
It would be heaven in my eyes.

If only it were that easy,
Trading asphalt for cobblestone;
I would do it in a heartbeat,
And I doubt I would be alone.

I wish that time could be turned back,
And diff'rent choices could be made.
Trading asphalt for cobblestone?
What if asphalt was never laid?

I dream nightly of green forests,
A world that nature would condone.
So I would not have to ponder
Trading asphalt for cobblestone.

A Quatern is a sixteen line French form composed of four quatrains. It has a refrain that is in a different place in each quatrain. The first line of stanza one is the second line of stanza two, third line of stanza three, and fourth line of stanza four. A quatern has eight syllables per line. It does not have to be iambic or follow a set rhyme scheme.
