Possible alternative prologue to Tale from Pentapia |
Tale from Pentapia J. E. McCarty Alternative Prologue This is a tale from a world very different from ours. This world is in a universe that may not yet exist. Our universe has matter, energy, time and space in three dimensions. Space, matter and energy in this universe have five dimensions, and ten three dimensional sub-planes. The sub-planes are named after the first ten letters of the Greek alphabet. The beings in this world are three dimensional, and are like us in some ways, but very different in others. They, the Homincommutons, are not bond to one sub-plane, but can move among all ten planes with complete freedom. They also live much longer than we do, and reproduce in a completely different way. Each of these ten sub-planes has one or two dimensions in common with the other nine. Thus, what is in the planes, other than the one that one of these beings is in, may be faintly perceivable to him or her. The Homincommutons’ last names are not family names. Their names are in three parts: the plane the character’s father was born in, the plane the character’s mother was born in, and the plane the character was born in. Do as best as you are able, to set aside all of reality as you now know it, and visit this alternative existence. Now, can you imagine being a child in such a universe? |
