I wrote this play because I felt compelled to do so. After doing the research it occurred to me that there were some conflicts that did not seem to reconcile. One was how Andromache, taken as slave by Neopotolimous (Pyrrhus), could bear him three children after he threw her son by Hector over the city wall. In order to solve this, in my play, there is an intrigue and he only appears to do so. Afterwards he falls in love with Andromache but cannot tell her what he did for fear of exposure. What follows is a tension between the two as she is torn between the past and the present and he is conflicted by wanting her to love him and her unwillingness to do so. This creates the tension that moves the play along and brings it to the conclusion. Aside from the intrigue mentioned above I have tried to stay true to Homer, other Greek plays by the same name, and the historical record.
