Can I Make The Community A Better Plac?

Night has fallen and the moon is shining brightly once again

The community is asleep, after a hard day’s work filled with aches and pain

There are no watchmen to guide our city streets

So bandits are roaming just looking for a treat

         

How can I make the community a better place?

How have we fallen so far from grace?

I will be the ears, eyes and hands of all I meet

I will give a word of encouragement to everyone I greet



I will teach my peers to respect themselves and their parents

I will make life better for each other by using my time and talents

We will obey the laws of the land as it relates to us

We will work hard and honest from dawn to dusk



We will share this earth and take responsibility

To make it a better place to live with every given opportunity

Caring for our seniors and taking care of our environment

Is a charge to us we should display as one of our fundaments



We can encourage our youth to throw away their knives and guns

And live at peace with each other while having fun

No more war, no more gangs to fight and steal

No more grieving parents over a son just killed



Our communities are made up of Leaders, neighbors, and helpers

We can all work together and be our brother’s keeper

One small act of kindness in someone’s life can make a difference

When applying for a job we just might need a reference



How can I make the community a better place?

I will work hard and do my part to finish this race

I will show love and care to my fellowmen

I will be that shining star from heaven that shines down on men



Let us lend a helping hand when things are going wrong

Because as a community that’s what will make us strong

Give way to each other and be considerate

Spread the love, don’t hate, just appreciate
