A poem concerning a certain man and his management of a regrettable situation.
A tear rolls down his cheek,
Cutting, cleansing, the dark grime of war,
Suddenly his body, his mind, turns weak.
The battle a distant, hectic roar,
A tear rolls down his cheek.

The dirt, the mud,
The tears, the hate,
The sweat, the blood,
All washed away,
As a tear rolls down his cheek.

He falls to the ground,
Immersed in sorrow, immersed in pain,
A pain so real, a pain profound,
And as the pain and hate pump through his veins,
A tear rolls down his cheek.

The man now broken,
Hands to his face,
His fears awoken,
His heart picks up its pace,
As a tear rolls down his cheek.

His mind brought back to his home,
Of serenity and now his hopes and dreams.
Now he stands alone,
Grasping at their screams,
And a tear runs down his cheek.

He sees the girl he knew,
Within her eyes, a sadness,
He eyes his hands and knows it can’t be true,
But sees the truth, in her floating dress,
And a tear rolls down his cheek.

For when he reaches out,
To hold her hand,
To take her from the rout,
He falls to the scorching sand,
A tear rolls down his cheek.

Eyes closed to the world around,
His heart beats on, to his gloom,
His hand, his glare, rests on the ground,
He ponders the death that looms,
As a tear rolls down his cheek

The death he ponders,
Perhaps a field of green waits,
One the girl in his heart wanders,
Where for he she sits and waits,
As a tear rolls down his cheek.

He stands and eyes his sword,
The sword of he who weeps,
Notches in his blade,
The count of death he keeps,
A tear rolls down his cheek.

His tear, now full of grime,
Falls from his face,
Removing the blood, the crime,
But this he can’t erase,
Still, the tear falls to the ground.

He sees another man, with different eyes,
They are big and blue,
But had seen just as many cries,
As the weeping man knew,
And a tear rolls from his eyes.

But the blue eyed man levels his blade,
And the weeping one can only stand,
His chin raised high, his decision made,
Looking to a better land
A tear rolls down his cheek
