Imprisoned in the king's dungeon for breaking curfew, Valora lives to see her father, the last of her family, die. She is thrown out of the city and stumbles upon a black dragon. Adopting the girl into his clan, he protects her from his human hating clan members. The legendary White Dragon pays a visit to the clan, taking Valora with him when he leaves. His hate for humans covers a greater secret, one he can never reveal. War, intrigue, and scandal blanket Valora and her companions as they seek to destroy a great evil rising in the world.
