translation of just living...what does it really mean? |
[Introduction]
People go through half their lives in trepidation, and of course that means sometimes translating in being fearful. But then again that can also be translated into shyness, uncertainty, second-guessing, and down right scared of doing the ‘wrong’ thing at that particular time in their lives. So what do we do? For seconds we all hem-haw before making a decision. It might be a spilt second of indecision we never acknowledge but the hesitation is there nonetheless. Because whether that decision is a minor or major one it’s always best to test ourselves; we’re making the right decision that will make an impact in our life. No matter what we think and conclude it will make an impression in our existence and take note in other peoples lives as well. There will be an imprint or more importantly a collision whether small or large; there will always be consequences in our decisions that will send ripples across the rivers in each of our lives. Sometimes we don’t really know how the impact of our decisions or conclusions will affect others and if we really think about that that can be a tremendous weight that can burden us with guilt. Or we can feel a sense of accomplishment in nudging someone forward with resolve. Or we can be such self-serving individuals that we just don’t care about the humanity circle that surrounds us. Our lives are constantly changing every day, every hour, every minute, and every second of each day we wake up and realize we’re blessed to even wake up each day. Or we should. How many of us really wake up each day and rejoice for being able to live another second, another minute, another hour and even another day, God willing? In today’s society we’ve forgotten the bare basics of life. We’ve forgotten how to enjoy the enhancement of light, of enjoying the refreshing movements of breathing or more important the secular (or not) graciousness of God. We’ve forgotten how to recognize the subtle sparks that glow all around us every second. We’ve forgotten how to enhance every second we’re alive with vibrancy and with passion for that moment. We don’t take the time anymore to just stop while we’re walking and look up at the sky and say, “Thank you”. We don’t take the time anymore to just stop and take a deep breath and smell the entire smelly atmosphere that coats us at that moment. We don’t take the time to reach out and touch a fragile bud of a flower and wonder at the yellow pollen that flakes across your fingers. We don’t take the time to really remember how to hear peace in the background. We don’t take the time to open our eyes to the wonders of the simplicities that suspends us in cloaks of whispery veils of semi-lightness or semi-darkness. We’ve forgotten how to get through those veils because it’s so much easier to hide behind them then to break through the gauze and really delight in living and see ourselves as we really are. In translation remember to just being. In translation remember to set aside the every-day depressions and worries and remember to calm down a bit. In translation remember to really understand and comprehend the gift of blessing God for giving you your every day, every hour, every minute and every blessed second. In translation go back to the basics. |
