The First Step Is To Admit It

My last message to you will go unanswered.
I will send nothing that needs a reply;
My words will finally leave the door closed.

I hope that from time to time we’ll talk,
Maybe through a window or a crack in the wall.
I want to end this chapter, not end the story.

And maybe someday, we can re-open that door.
Better yet, let’s open a different door –
A door through which grown-ups pass.
