midnight screams pt 4

"What have you done!" Ara angrily shouted. Xavier only shook his head and kept his eyes on the ground. I couldn't understand why Ara was getting so worked up. What,if anything, had Xavier done that was so wrong? "I haven't done anything,yet." He coldly replied. He was looking her straight in the eyes now. "what do you mean yet? If you continue to second guess yourself things aren't going to go so well." Sophie said. Okay, things are getting confusing. Ara doesn't want Xavier to do anything, but Sophie thinks he has to. What is it exactly that he has to do? Ara's eyes turned quickly to Sophie.
"He can't. If he does, who knows what the outcome will be. We can't take the chance."
"No, we all made it through, Sarah can too, she seems strong." Sophie hastily replied.
They were all talking like I wasn't even there. What's the deal with them?
"Sophie, be reasonable. Would you really risk losing everything that we have?"Ara's eyes suddenly became pleading.
"She'll make it, I know it, can't we at least try? If it doesn't work out then we can just wait for another."
I finally found the courage to speak,"Will someone please tell me what this is all about? What is it that Xavier has to do, and what does it have to do with me?" All eyes were on me now, each with the same expression. Sadness. Sophie spoke up, "Go ahead, do what you know you have to do."
Xavier looked at me with pain filled eyes. "Please, believe me, this wasn't something I planned to do."
He touched where my heart was and the pain was back. I wanted to scream but he was in enough pain already. I heard Ara's voice shout a defiant 'NO!' and Logan's gasp of surprise. Sophie sat quietly near a door. The pain subsided and I was in the white room again. Xavier was there, standing two feet away.
"Sarah, please you have to understand, this is what has to be done, please forgive me."
In an instant we were less than inches apart. He leaned closer like he was going to kiss me, but instead he looked me in the eyes and said, " Tell me, if it was in your control, would you wish to be with me forever?" Was he joking? No, he was serious, his eyes held nothing but pain, truth, and...love?
Why love? Do I love him? I'd only known him for a short while. Was that enough? I looked him in the eyes and for the first time, I felt a pull, something telling me that I should say yes, yes to life with him, to be with him. I do love him. Was it even possible to unknowingly love someone?
"Yes, I would, I would give anything to be with you."
Ouch. My neck hurt.
"I'm so sorry." He shakily whispered, then soft like a feather he put his lips to mine, but only for an instant. He looked me again in the eyes before my world went black.
