Tells of a newborn coming into the world and growing up.
Have Mercy on Me

The doctor spanked me on the bottom in hopes that I would breath.
As a new baby born into the world I come out screaming.
I know not what I do only that I was scared and cold.
Daddy don’t get upset, please have mercy on me.

As a newborn I know that I cried a lot.
I was hungry and did not know how to express myself.
I would get cold and could not let you know.
Daddy don’t get aggravated, please have mercy on me.

As a toddler I was curious.
I wanted to touch everything.
I did not know things could break and were not replaceable.
Daddy don’t yell, please have mercy on me.

As an adolescent I was having fun with my friends.
I wanted to climb on everything.
I did not know that the limb would break.
Daddy don’t spank me, please have mercy on me.

As a teenager I knew everything.
I did not need any help from anyone.
However, I did not know that I could become a parent at an early age.
Daddy don’t disown me, please have mercy on me.

As a young adult I am making it on my own and providing for my family.
I am a success and have the world in my hands.
I did not realize that I could lose my life at an early age.
Daddy please be with me and have mercy on me.

As a child of God I wait to see the light.
I attended church and did well in my life.
I did not know my name had to be in the book of life.
Father please forgive me and have mercy on me.
