(CONTINUED) CONTINUED: 18. MERCURIAL TALON (RAPID-FIRE SPEECH) I could keep this up all night. Saige launches an arrow into the air. He fires a second straight at Talon who just back peddles from it. MERCURIAL TALON (RAPID-FIRE SPEECH) You have to do more then just shoot arrows to be in this squad. The first arrow drops down in front of Talon, as it hits a blinding flash of light explodes from it, knocking Talon on her back. Before Saige can recover, MG tackles him. They roll end over end on the ground. MG ends up on top. He raises his right arm and extends a metal blade from his gauntlet. THOMPSON (O.S.) Negative on the metal MG. We don’t want to kill him. Before MG can reply, Saige socks him across the jaw and wiggles free of his grasp. The two stand and face off exchanging attacks and counter attacks for several moments. Before a dashing attack from Talon knocks Saige back. MG What’s the deal Talon, I had him. Saige is a bit woozy as he stands. Grace appears in front of him with a rifle in hand. Saige puts his hands up in defense as she pulls the trigger. A huge net fires out of the weapon, trapping Saige on the ground. The team regroups in front of him. Saige struggles in the net to no avail. SAIGE Didn’t you write a big expose on the NRA Grace? GRACE This is different Saige. You OK MG? MG OK? Come on, he got a few lucky punches in because Blue tied my hands. Thompson steps out in front of the group. (CONTINUED) CONTINUED: 19. SAIGE So can I ask what the point of this was? THOMPSON You did well for yourself. Far better than I expected. (to the others) Let’s get out of here. SAIGE What? That’s it? The team turns and walks toward the street, as they do the same light from the alley blinds Saige again. When it’s gone, so is the team. INT. PARAGON TIMES - DAY Saige sits at his desk. He has a stack of papers on his desk but isn’t focused on any of it. SAIGE (V.O.) It had been a two weeks now and nothing more from the Hyperion Force. Grace was ducking my visits and not answering calls or e-mails. They were active though. News reports showed them having a pretty active campaign against the Crey lately. But no contact with me. I was busy in the meantime myself. Starting my new position as well as working with Harper on my other new position. We tweaked the bow and arrows and even started working on my costume. The name was still a work in progress. Harper went out as the Battling Bowman. I don’t know what I will be. Saige gets up and heads out of the newsroom. EXT. PARAGON TIMES - DAY Thompson is waiting for Saige outside. Saige tenses when he lays eyes on him. Thompson puts up his hands. THOMPSON Hey now. I come in peace. (CONTINUED) CONTINUED: 20. SAIGE Right. THOMPSON I wanted to talk to you. Thompson starts walking down the sidewalk. Saige waits a moment then hurries to catch up to him. THOMPSON A junior archery champion whose skills have obviously not diminished, some hand to hand combat training. Well a lot for you to have even lasted that long against MG even with him pulling his punches. The arrows were, interesting. Your work as well? SAIGE My secret. THOMPSON Very well then. SAIGE What was that last night? THOMPSON An audition of sorts. SAIGE Right. So did I make the cut? THOMPSON You know contrary to how the media portrays what we do, I do not see it as any sort of fad or trend that anyone can do. I take it seriously. There is danger in all we do. Why do you want to do this? SAIGE I have my reasons. THOMPSON And have you weighed them against the possible consequences? SAIGE I have. (CONTINUED) CONTINUED: 21. THOMPSON I thought I did too. But I have found there are some things you don’t take into account, the effect on family, friends. SAIGE The effect on family is what I am banking on. Thompson stops walking and looks over Saige. THOMPSON You have skills we could use, but I am not sure your head is in the right place and I am not sure I can chance that with my team. I’m sorry. Thompson walks on, leaving an angry Saige behind. SAIGE So that’s it? I’m out just like that? THOMPSON Just like that I suppose. SAIGE Come on man, give me another shot. Just tell me what I need to do. THOMPSON Goodbye Mr. Winters. Thompson continues walking, turning the nearest corner. Saige fumes. SAIGE (V.O.) No. This isn’t over. I’ve obviously got the potential, he said it himself. I’ll just have to show that to them. .....to be continued..? |
