Rough draft- At one time or another we've all been afraid of monsters in the closet.
The monsters, they come out at night.

From their closets they creep in sight-

And though the children sleep so well,

The creature’s breast will start to swell.

The roars and cackles break the dim-

And through the dark there stalks the Grim.

They cast the kiddies from their beds-

And then the terror in them spreads.

The beast’s they come with skins of green

Their bony fingers long and lean-

With claws and teeth sharp as the Blade

They give good reason to be afraid.

Under beds and behind the door-

They’ll sneak and slither on the floor.

In the toy chest or in shadows will wait

For unknowing children to meet their fate

No help may come before the dawn-

For parents send children, with a yawn,

Back to their rooms where peril sits

Monsters still lurking in their midst
