AT LIPTON'S SEAT

We started our journey
In last May
the four of us
in a rented car

my son was driving
to that mountain
about five thousand feet high
in a narrow road
passing tea estates
round and round we drove
to the Lipton's seat

It was getting dark
I thought about turning back
but my son said 'no, father,'
'it is only a couple of kilometers'

so we drove and drove
to the top of Lipton's seat
with sun hiding behind mountains
and the mist was so thick
you could cut it in to thousand pieces

finally we reached there
on top of Haputale mountain
stood the seat built by 'Lipton'
the famous tea estate superintendent

from there you could watch
four districts of Sri Lanka
namely Trinco, Jaffna,
Dondra and Colombo

we had a superb view
from Lipton's seat far above
the world stood still for a moment
I thought my heart was beating faster!
