Another poem about the changing season
It was the titter-tattering, pitter-pattering of a cool autumn rain
That played upon the leaves above in falls' glorious refrain
How the sound of cascading drops upon the leaves did play
Allowed me to lie in my bed the better part of the autumnal day

To lie, to dwell, to dream about how blessed my life has been
To remember all my precious gifts, to think about my kindly friends
Their thoughts, their prayers, their helping hands all along the way
They each have helped to mold me into the man you see today

Oh how I love the autumn rain as it plays upon resplendent leaves
As quietly I am standing here listening, beneath their glorious eaves
The misty dampness and autumnal breezes insist I dare not stay
Although I linger for a little while, now I surely must be on my way

To have felt that rain upon my brow when I walked this mossy ground
And stood and listened to the softness of soothing, quiet, rainy sound
The alluring music that was made that day a symphony could not play
It's times such as these that gives one pause, to wonders of the day

I hope that eternity allows me many things, memories most of all
Of family, friends, love and such but mostly of the quiet rains in fall
The gnawing and the bustle of life that can wear a person down
Were washed away by the quiet rains that fell upon this ground

In days of past and decades longer to which I cannot riposte
They are specters now, visions past, all dressed up as ghosts
The autumn days, her wondrous rains, will play up in the wood
As I lie beneath the quiet ground, listening, lying there for good
