Forty days in the abyss
Connected to Mother Wind
By a coil of perpetual death.
Birth comes a heartbeat too late
In the lonely rain.
A stranger in my homeland,
I travel from fertile heart to barren womb.
There life abundant
And dawn. Each night
Finds me broken... filled.
Each day my lullaby
The solitary scream of the peace train:
A whisper calling souls to war
While 'cheerily' sings a robin
In a darkened park
Dangling life a tempo from an oak leaf
On a still screen;
And the invisible frame is
A blue-pink mist
Playing leap-frog with the grey-gold sun.
Winter in the valley
On the pinnacle of the naked mountain
In March of May.
