Do not worry about your difficulties in Mathematics. |
Do not worry about your difficulties in Mathematics. I can assure you mine are still greater. -- Albert Einstein I hate Math. A very unoriginal statement but true nonetheless. I love words rather than numbers. In kindergarten, I only learned to count when I applied it to playing cards. In grade school, I would rather write hundreds of essays on how I spent my summer rather than recite the multiplication tables. In highschool though, I found Algebra liberating. Not that I became a mathematical genius (because I didn’t), but I learned to like Math. It was then that I understood that it was a logical process, that if you were hardworking and practiced enough, you would get by. I have many faults, but academically lazy is not one of them. I practiced and exuded confidence that I “tricked” people into thinking that I knew what I was doing. Now that I’m an accountant, Math and I now have a comfortable practical relationship. I use the calculator – no point in pretending that I can do sums in my head – but I like Math enough to tackle financial analysis everyday. I guess you could say we've made our peace. We're okay. |
