Short story poem of halcyon daze |
The Way of The Exploding Velvet Claw I fell asleep as a wise man and dreamt of eluding destiny when I was softly awakened with a kiss from kismet before she dunked my head in a bucket of cold consciousness. I took a stroll on the ship of fools wondering why wisdom was given such a large berth and met a man who traded sunshine for coal; he sold his soul for a swag of Chinese gold. Then Mirth bitch-slapped me... with a velvet claw clapped me from troubled thoughts snapped me in a cloak of laughter wrapped me and cast around me a futuristic fantasy where my life was the greatest love story yet to be written in heavenly glory. Happiness elbowed Mirth in the ribs, “It took that pause to make him realize.” Their gentle chuckling became the timpani rumble of distant thunder as I fell asleep a wiser man knowing nothing more than the fool and dreamt of dancing with destiny. ---------- |
