This is the eve of the British and American Offensive in Afghanistan

                            Where will it End?

I lie trying to shield myself from the sun, the flies the dust

Thinking of life back home, fields of green, the bustle of the city

I could swear I hear the sounds of birds chirping their morning song

But no its the shriek of another mortar whistling overhead

I know we said we would fight for Queen or President to keep our families safe

but we're so far from home in a god forsaken land, not really wanted here

But drawn into someone elses War and carnage all around

Politicians in high places they are so but their actions can get us killed

It seems so long ago now since we came but the time it goes so slow

I know how the convict feels whilst waiting on Death Row

Our average age is 31 but many of us wont grow old

Why did we get dragged into this war I am sure they are others on the other side

who feel the same way just as I glimpsed into abduls eyes before I blew him away

Terrorism and religious fanactics fighting for their cause west against the East

families being ripped apart all this needless loss of life pulls at my heart

But like my comrades I will fight for the flag

Whumph!! a missile flies over my head

We have mounted our offensive it is the final push

A red mist washes over me as we make our headlong rush

Bullets fly all around me whistling past my head

But I think God is watching over me he refuses to see me dead

It is quiet now or is it the calm before the storm

My mind drifts back to those green fields where I used to Roam

A tear trickles down my face as I think of my lost friends

As the roar of battle starts up again

The question remains where will it all end?

Here we are years later still fighting for the cause

Just like two boxers trying to bloody the nose

There will come the big bang and a brilliant flash of light

aha! the mushroom cloud this is where it ends.
