Amulet of Rome

Cassie stood with her bags in front of a house. A nice blue one in fact. She had just finished collage and was now a puplisher. Her boyfriened Luke was living in Peru on some expidition. She wheeled her suit cases up the steps into the new lovely house. How spaciuous she thought just when she spotted something. A box of candy on the counter. She opned the box up. Eek! It was all molded. Someone must not want her here. then she looked more closer. It wasn't for here but for a lady named Deliah Romes. Well this Deliah must be wanting her candy. Cassie bundled up and went out into the harsh weather. She went next door to a nice pink house. A woman with a child slung on her hips came to the door. Well hello darlin! You must be Cassandra! Call me Cassie, Cassie blushed. What can i do for you Miss. Cassie? I found these things that were uh left for Deliah Romes and was wondering where I could return them to so she would get them. The lady laughed. Mrs. Carlton is something funny? she questioned. Miss. Romes died of a heart attack years ago in that house. She is a legend in this here community. Cassie was taken aback. She went back to her house where she decided to halt the unpacking. She got out her laptop and set down at the kitchen table. She searched this ladys name. Miss Romes happened to be a movie star back in the day. She was married seven times but never moved out of this house. The lady seemed normal to Cassie so she thought she shouldn't frett. She slept soundly until her alarm clock went off. Weird. It went off at five in the morning. She wasn't due at work until nine and it was a Sunday. Cassie could no longer sleep so she went out into the town. The town was very dedicated to Miss Romes. Their was shops with name plasted on them all over. Fashion stores to book stores. Cassie didn't want to waste any more time so she went into a bookstore off of main street. She went to the section titled Legends. She didnt know why she went there but she was just drawn there by some unseen force. she died years ago he said sadly. You were Miss.Romes husband? I was indeed. Come sit doShe found a book about Miss.Romes. It looked like it hadn't been touched in centuries. She blew the dust off and opened it up. It was hollow. Inside was a beautiful golden amulet with words inscribed " my Rome is America". She thought of turning it in but she decided to go home and do soem research. She soon found out that this necklace was worn at every Deliah Romes concert. She searched the internet for a worthy person who could help her with this mystery. Dan Hues. The man who owned the bookstore. She vistied his little cottage that night. What do you want? he sneered. Mr.Hues I wanted to know if you knew anything about this here amulet? He stood there frozen with a ciagarette in his mouth gasping for air. Get in here girly! he whispered and pulled her inside. this amulet belong to my wife but wn and let me tell you the story of my wife. She was a chubby one you know he chuckled. she could wear anythign she wanted though. She went was happy at soul he coughed. But on the outside she was a troubled animal. She lost her fame to to her daughter Lilly Romes. Cassie loved Lilly Romes. She was the best singer around. She ended up killing her daughter and died of a heart attack. The doctors figured she was depressed but I knew it was more than that. Thats why I want the amulet he said. He held his fist up. Gimme the amulet and you wont get hurt he cooed Cassie took her best hit that she could but end up hitting the amulet and was knocked to the ground by Mr.Hues punch. She didn't wake up until she was secure in a hospital bed. Suddely it all came to her. All that research she did and the legend were lies to cover up the real truth. Cassie did some more researching before calling the police to her room three weeks later. Officers i know what happened to Deliah Romes. They listened eagerly as Cassie explanied that Deliah had three husbands. one in Rome,one in Aljeria and one in America. Mr.Hues was the one in Rome. The amulet was what he needed to prove that Deliah was killed in a heart attack incident. The truth was he killed her along with Lilly at their summer home in Prouge. The amulet was from Rome and was a well know jewl in America. But in Rome it wasn't know. He had indeed escaped after his little incident with Cassie. The police eneded up arresting up and telling the truth about Miss.Romes death. It turned out that Miss.Romes was her grand mother. Lilly was the mother of Cassie. all Cassie knew was that she lived with her aunt and uncle. Her mother was a runaway they claimed. She rembered the name Lilly but Romes didn't ring a bell becuase Lilly used a new name to escape her father Dan. Cassie couldn't belevie her ears. . Cassie decided to leave the publishing job and become an author.

She wrote book about her family history and how she learned it all in a month. She ended up marrying a nice young publisher named James and they had three kids, Deliah, Lillian and Summer.
