Re-living memories from the relationship, a slightly lyrical piece of poetry |
It’s that memory The one where we’re on that train The one where we’re a little sleepy The one where you take my hand The one where our fingers first intertwine When you asked me ‘will you be mine?’ It’s that memory The one where I fling my arms around you The one where your scent radiates from your skin The one where I cling to you The one where you hold me tight Shielding me from the cold winter’s night. It’s that memory The one where I lie next to you The one where I can hear our soft breathing The one where your lips touch mine and burn The one where you say we will be together And our love will be ‘til the end of forever. It’s that memory The one where I can’t sleep at night The one where I cry into my pillow The one where I don’t surrender The one where I wait up for your texts That say ‘I give up, I’ve tried my best’. No it’s this memory The one where you say ‘let’s go outside’ The one where you tell me ‘its over’ The one where I beg you to stay The one where you cry as you hold me And you kiss me a final goodbye. It’s this memory The one which breaks my soul each day The one which imprints on my heart The one I have to suppress The one which I wish I could rewrite The one which stifles my memories. |
