My Fathers Shadow

I remember as a child
Walking in my fathers shadow
He would not let me go ahead
He said that I should follow

So behind their loving father
My kids now walk along
Dancing around in his shadow
To their favorite kiddy song

Now with my family gathered round
I know my time has come
To say farewell to the ones I love
And go back where I started from

Then as the room fades to shadow
The sun goes behind a cloud
I hear the angels call me home
With voices strong and proud

So, with my final thread of life
I turn to face the window
Knowing that I will once again
Walk in my fathers shadow
