He showed me my own beauty.
It was a passage from childhood to womanhood and I didn't even know it was happening until it had completed. The best transformations happen in this format. These moments either define who we are or we take charge and define ourselves.

Summertime and the lights were low, the sun was our lighting and it was setting on our perfect day. Life was perfect, today. The next morning tore me to pieces. And that perfect summer ended with a single text. He was my first love, but not my greatest. As I finally let go of him a season later, I moved to a new state with a new determination in life.

After this move I came to know a man who would truly transform me into a woman! This woman who had been hiding inside of me. Actually I already knew him on that surface level, but the level to which we would dive was out of this world.

Simple road trips brought us together very quickly. Concerts to the dashboard, movies in the hotel, long talks after the radio got boring, dinner and fast food, and realizing that we had more in common than anybody(especially ourselves) would have thought.

He was not so cool and I was not so dorky. We both loved God, even though our relationships with Him were very different. Neither of us like spicy food and both love chicken. We loved the same movies and hated that same stupid song! Pretty soon we found ourselves falling asleep on the phone and texting like we were in middle school.

Then it happened. He went in for a kiss and came out with so much more! A best friend and lover. We knew each other inside and out and could not stand a day or even an hour apart. Just like our favorite song described, Alicia Keys #7.

Somewhere between realizing my ex was not good enough for me, and seeing all the ways this new man was so amazing I became I woman. I learned about myself and love and life and it was summertime again.
