The Deer in the Woods

The handsome creatures
Of delicate, leisurely status -
The long-legged, well-built deer -
Graze beautifully and alertly
In the wide open wilderness,
The quiet, remote and barren woods
Becoming encroached upon
By humanity, its homes, and technology.
The mortal deer,
With their sense of sight and smell,
Are prepared to bolt
At a moment’s notice.
The healthy woods provide
Food and nourishment
For the eagerly hapless deer,
Whose growth depend
Upon open patches of wilderness;
Eluding hunters and predators
Who threaten their defensible
And pre-ordained existence.
