Reminiscing about the time when I wanted to reach out to someone.
Do you remember when you laid your head
On the table that we used to sit at?
Amidst the crowd around you talking incessantly
You merely just wish to sleep and get some rest

Well, I do recall seeing your tired eyes
Tired from being awoken all too soon
I pat that head, which slowly but surely
Went to sleep as though nothing occurred

It reminded me of what I used to be –
Carefree, mischievous and a hint childishness
Till I had formed my own demons that i
Am unable to sleep without nightmares returning

But still, there you are, with those eyes of yours
Wide, dreamy, longing for something
Wish I could help you there but am helpless
For our paths rarely cross anymore
And I can’t pat you to sleep again
