Born in May

I was born on a sunny day
In the merry month of May
There were blossoms on the trees
Perfume wafting on the breeze

Pretty flowers were in bloom
When I ventured from the womb
Nourished by my mother’s breasts
As the birds were building nests

Trees were donning summer dress
Each one trying to impress
Displaying many shades of green
Light and dark and in between

In the merry month of May
Life is renewed every day
Birds and bees and flowers and trees
Their blessed Maker strive to please

Many years have come and gone
Since my springtime birth at dawn
Now I while my time away
Hope to see another May.
