Sis - Just a Family view and reflection.
My Sis is 10 years older than me. Both my Parents worked in sweat shops, as I was growing up. My Brother is 12 years older.
So my older siblings, basically, raised me.
I can remember, way back 50 years ago, to my first day of Elementary School. My sister walked me there and signed me up. Any parent conference, needed? Sis would go.
She got married, young, but was ALWAYS there for me. When I was still a child, I waited ALL DAY for my Sis to take me sledding, in the Park. She was late and I was FURIOUS! I remember saying some nasty thing to her. Did I know that she was going through a divorce? But she STILL took me.
I remember that I loved my Sis, so much, that when I would eat something that caused a nightmare, I would dream that she died. And I would wake up, in tears, relieved that it was just a nightmare.
I remember being a young boy, carving Bicycle pedals into Tiki’s, when the jackknife slipped and cut my leg (I still have the scar). I was ok, but even then, I knew I needed stitches. So I called my Sis and she came and brought me to the E.R..
Growing into teen hood, Sis was married (again) and I use to babysit my Niece. One teenage, rowdy, night I cut my ear, on a fence. I called, married mother of 2 (now), Sis and she took me to the E.R. for stitches, again.
I got older, and married. My wife and I move to Florida with our 2 kids and one in the oven. I ran into hard, economic times (like now) and Sis used to send me 100 bucks, every Month, until I got on my feet.
Our beloved Mother is getting older, now. 87 yrs. Old. My Brother isn’t well and I live 2000 miles away. So guess who is looking out, for Mom? Sis.
She buys Mother’s Day presents every year and put my name on it. She does the same, for my Brother.
When, God forbid, the day comes and I lose Mom?
I’ll have my wife and Kids, and Sis.
