I WAS BORN FREE

I was born free...

Before the coming of my birth
there was a plan for my freedom

They suffered the lash of ole' massa's whip
They sang ole spiritual hymns of a place
with peace, harmony and freedom

I was born free...

Before the blue print of my life was designed

They were lynched, beaten, and tortured
'Cause they tired of ole' Jim Crow and his laws
They sit in segregated resturants, schools and march in protest
'cause they wanna eat, sleep, drink, and learn like the white folks do

I was born free

Before the coming of my soul was sent to Mother Earth

He shouted for freedom to ring!
His voice rippled like a tidal wave
through the millions of brothers and sisters
who were there to hear his voice

He had a light of fire in his eyes
as he preached of a better world where all men
of all races would learn to live together in harmony

I was born free

Because of a lost world seeking answers...

He was sent
He became the Way, the Truth and the Light
He sacrificed Himself for His bride
So that she might live.

His death freed me from the bondage of sin. His grace gave me a chance to live

The Blue print is done
the battle is won
and another beautiful creation is born

I was born free.
