An homage to Summer |
When the seasons seem to fall to summer, all is right with things. We find that the hot days make us open windows, breathe deeper and we find ourselves reaching out to others on a warm or hot day. Greenery abounds, birds sing and all becomes a lazy, hot day. In the Northeast, we revel in these days because there are few so perfect as a pristine summer time. The sound of ice cream trucks move throughout the neighborhood chased by lines of children and a neighbor calling our or waving to another define the season. Rains come, and we feel invigorated. The summer showers wash their way and trickle downward cleansing the earth and encouraging grass to grow.Thunder booms in the haze and lightning can be seen from a distance. It provides the longest days, the warmest days, the most youthful days.It provides innocence through incarnation and makes our skin jump to the rays of sunshine. The summer months are our youth in seasons; they are our days to relish. Can you picture a day off of the calendar? I cannot picture one which I do not have record of in Summer. So hail to the park, the campground and the sandy shore. All is right and seldom can be wrong in Summer. |
