A young girl just wants a place to fit in... for someone to be her friend.

There's that girl again today,
The one you noticed yesterday.
She was walking down the hall, all by herself,
And you wonder why.

You saw her in the library
Reading in a corner, all by herself,
And you wonder why.

You saw her in the lunchroom
Sitting at the farthest table, all by herself,
And you wonder why.

You never noticed her before,
Nobody ever does see the invisible girl.
But now you see her,
Every hurt, every open sore.
You wonder why,
Why is she all alone?
With no friends to call her own?
You wonder if something happened,
To make her isolate herself,
Or if she was just always that way.
You can't remember.
She wishes you knew
How badly she wanted some group.
Some group to belong to,
And friends to confide in.

Now you think to yourself,
"Maybe ill go over there,
Talk for a little bit."
But she doesn't want to talk.
She doesn't want to see.
She didn't even look up,
When you asked her,
"What's your name?
Will you please tell it to me?"

She hides in a box.
Maybe someday someone will know,
The name of the invisible girl.
Someday it will show.
The next day you see her walking down the hall.
All by herself,
And you wonder why.

You're watching her then she looks up,
There's a twinkle in her eyes. And she's smiling.
You haven't seen that on her before.
She whispers; maybe it was just the wind.
But you swear you heard
"I'd love to have a friend."
