Whispering memories curl up like wood smoke,

soft around the edges, drifting ever upwards

in my mind.

Scented with fragrances of yesterdays gone by,

once lush and green,

now papery and sepia-toned.

Some crisp and sharp like newly opened buds.

Some wilted and sweet like spent blooms.

All whispering memories and held closely

to the heart.
