Golden Dragon, Silver Wolf

Walking in darkness
Tripping and stumbling
For so long he loses hope
He soon becomes blind

He can’t see the past
The present or future
Can’t see what he was
Or what he will become

A sea of shadows engulfs him
A sense of drowning overwhelms him
Coughing and choking
There is no way out

Through the darkness
He finally sees
A spot of light
Tiny, but bright

As it draws near
He sees a shining wolf
With silver fur and amber eyes
Head and tail held high

At her signal he follows her
And upon the horizon sees
The orange glow of the rising sun
Shattering the crushing darkness

Sunlight flows upon the land
Leaving no shadows behind
She leads him to a shining pool
He gasps as he goes to drink

His scales shine like liquid gold
His eyes two shining emeralds
He spreads his wings of gold leaf
And reaches his head up high

With a mighty roar he leaps up high
And takes flight among the clouds
He opens his mouth and lets loose
A column of golden flame

Through the clouds
He sees the wolf
Just sitting down
Calmly watching him

As he dives towards her
She gets to her paws and lopes away
He glides beside her
Matching her easy pace

There is no need for words
No words could even describe
The beautiful friendship
Between the dragon and the wolf
