I wrote this for a poetry assignment in 8th grade, I received a C
There once was a girl
Her name was Lynn
In the mornings when she awoke
She'd put on her face
Along with a fake grin
She'd step onto the bus
Listen how everyone began to fuss
Her eyes began to tear up
Though nobody cared
Nobody even wanted her there
Everytime they said his name
Memories filled her head
Not a moment passed
That she didn't want to be dead
She didn't want to remember
It's all her fault he's gone
She never told him she was there
Forgot to say how much she cared
The nurse walked in with a frown on her face
Said he was gone without a trace
When she got home she went to her room
She shut off the lights
So the room looked just as gloom
She grabbed a razor and began to cut
At least it was a way out of her rut
Long sleeves hid the wounds
A month later scars told the truth
How she's a freak and her friends now hate her
Put her on pills to make her feel better
Five therapists cried along with her
her parents don't want her
They said she's a failure
Threw her away onto the streets
There she saw a man she'd like to meet
He gave her a job as a prostitute
She thought maybe she could reboot
She felt worse than ever
Cried every night
The man gave her drugs
Said it'd be alright
Until one night she couldn't take it
Wanted to put her life to an end
Thought if she died
She could start over again
She took a gun and pulled the trigger
When she woke up the pain was deep
But the guilt was deeper
Her parents stood there hand in hand
Why were they there?
They don't care...
Why were they there?
How could they dare?
