Poem about a teenager drowning out the sound of his/her parents yelling.
You yell and scream at me,
But all I hear is a muffled groan.
I've learned to tune out your hurtful words,
Your spitefully serpent tongue.

Your hands and arms begin to dance
And sway to the beat in my head.
I'd rather be watching a music video
Or a documentary on feces instead.

I stare at your gaping mouth as it flaps
Like a puppet without a voice.
A bug, a stick. No that would never do.
A hand to pull the strings would most likely be their choice.

Do I dare to listen
To a syllable you utter?
No, I'll just keep nodding my head
And not even bother.
