"Tell me how you do it",
The blind man said to me;
"Tell me how you live your life,
With hope that others be,
Worthy of your kindness;
Deserving of your love.
There seems so little joy in it;
No ones that rise above."
Gently smiling at him,
I brushed my tears away,
Cradled his face in my hand,
I quietly began to say.
"I do it because I believe
There is good in every heart.
Sometimes hidden by some hurt,
It needs some help to start."
Quietly we sat there,
Together, he and I.
Each caught up in our own thoughts,
As we looked through the other's eyes.
Not a word was spoke again,
Nothing to really say.
His blind eyes helped me carry on,
Mine showed him a bright new way.
