Written to describe the way of drought and rain on a rural community.
A thunderclap rolls

’Cross the open prairie

The message it tolls,

“Wait and be wary”

The farmer looks up

It’s rain he hopes for

And then, with luck,

His crops will yield more

The ground cries out,

“It’s moisture I need”

The trees then shout,

“Look at your greed!”

Nature fights wildly

The wind starts to howl

Still the farmer sits mildly

But the clouds only growl.

The wind blows

It looks like rain will pass,

Then the farmer knows

He has heard it at last

The wind stops…

Thunders retreating roar,

First only drops…

Then, it begins to pour
