A girl buys a brooch and wakes up somewhere else in time.
Kate sighed as she dumped her bags on the coffee table before heading in to the kitchen to make a refreshing brew. The antique sale had been rather good that day and she had bought some interesting pieces for her little shop.
With a large cup of tea in her hand, she sank down on the sofa and started to rummage through the bags. Various items of old clothing were carefully placed next to her for further examination later whilst cups and trinkets were placed on the coffee table so that she could catalogue them.
A huge yawn escaped her as she picked up the last trinket hours later. It was a silver sword with a round shield fused together to make a brooch. A small emerald glittered at the centre of the shield, almost as though a fire burned within its green depths. Shaking her head to rid herself of such fanciful thoughts, she put the brooch down and headed off to bed. She fell asleep almost instantly, her dreams filled with images of knights with silver swords and round shields with green circles at their centre.

The sound of birds singing loudly overhead dragged Kate out of her slumber. She frowned as she lay listening to the birdsong, her eyes still closed. She had never heard birds singing so loudly in her tower block apartment before. Maybe one had flown in through an open window, she wondered to herself.
She breathed deeply as awareness crept slowly through her body, inhaling deeply the fresh scent of summer flowers. Summer flowers? It was winter and she didn’t have any flowers nor any air sprays that smelt of summer flowers. Something was not quite right here.
Startled, she opened her eyes to find herself staring straight into the clear blue eyes of a man who stood dressed in shiny armour, with a long, silver sword in his hand and a round, silver shield with a green circle at its centre on his other arm.
