Taking the Risk

Chapter 1

Seo Joohyun carefully walked down the stairs. "Morning umma, morning appa."





Her mother Mahoon replied, "Good morning, sweetheart." She passed Joohyun the orange juice and cereal box as Joohyun got a bowl and the milk. "How was your first week of school?"



"Fine. Nothing drastic."



Her father Joonam responded, "That means you stayed away from trouble."



"Of course, appa. Why would I ever get into trouble?"



"Ahh, you never know. Sometimes nasty males can kidnap you and rape you."



Mahoon rolled her eyes. "Oh, Joonam, don't scare her like that."



They all quietly sat down together and ate their food. After 5 minutes Joohyun quickly washed and cleaned her mess before getting her stuff and leaving. She noticed her friends Hyoyeon, Yuri, and Taeyeon.



Joohyun was only 17 years old. She was a senior because of her big brains and fitness. She spoke conversational English but she didn't have an accent like most. She never disappointed her parents, not even in looks because everyone thought she was as cute as a bunny.

Maya Kim finished putting on her heavy make up, fixed her male uniform, and cleaned up the mess she made in the bathroom. Her brother (not really her brother because she was adopted) Alexander Lee Eusebio knocked on the door and whined, "Maya, are you almost done?"



Maya threw away some q-tips and finally opened the door. "Yeah here. Sorry about that."



Despite how nice she was being, Alexander complained, "You always take too long~!"



Maya tried to sneak through the back door before her mom tried to stop her. But her mother Eunhye said, "Maya, come and eat." Maya reluctantly went to sit at the table filled with food. Her little sister Beatrice came too and started eating.



Maya put some bread in her mouth but slowly took it out when the flavor destroyed her taste buds. She calmly asked her sister, "Tricey, who made this?"



"I did~!"



Maya nodded and swiftly threw the bread to their dog Bradly. She put some meat in her mouth and spat it out silently in her napkin. Beatrice announced, "Xander oppa made it."



Maya held in a groan before asking, "Mom, is there anything Xander and Tricey didn't make?"



Eunhye answered, "Everything but the bread and meat."



Maya drank her soda and ate some fried rice really quick. "I'm full!"



"Honey, at least take some for lunch!" Eunhye called.



Alexander playfully whispered to Maya, "Yeah, honey! Take some for lunch!"



Maya whispered, "Advice, and cherish it, next time you make meat lay off the salt and don't put too much oil."



Alexander whined in English, "I make good food~! WAHHH~!"



Maya shook her head and left. She got onto her motorcycle but before she could leave a  boy with half blond half brown hair called her. He asked once he got to her, "Can I have a ride?"



It wasn't his charming smile, cute eyes, or sexy body, but his annoyance that let him get on. When he wrapped his arms inappropriately tight around her waiste, Maya growled, "Don't push it, Jonghyun."



Maya was 20 years old in Korea as a senior because she's flunked more than once. She planned on graduating that year and not getting expelled. She was already in a different school for fighting. She had friends and enemies everywhere and she really didn't want anymore. She was Japanese and American but spoke other fluent languages because of her adoptive family. And everyone thought she was sexy even if she covered most parts of her body.

Joohyun was with her friends when the sound of a motorcycle was heard. Everyone turned their heads to see Maya and Jonghyun getting off the bike. Amber J. Liu walked up to Maya, ignoring Jonghyun, and patted her shoulder. The two laughed and let Jonghyun walk up to his popular friends, who was enjoying the attention of being on the same bike with Maya.



Shin Dongho, who was next to Joohyun, and also had a crush on her, whispered, "Oh my gawd, she gives me chills~!"



Choi Minho asked Jonghyun, "I'm surprised you survived and she didn't purposely crash."



Kevin Woo protested, "You shouldn't judge someone by their looks.

"



Hwang Tiffany teased, "Like when you dress up as a girl you don't want people to seriously think you are one."



Kevin playfully screamed and pushed her. Jung Jessica smiled sadly, "She's prob'ly not that bad."



Kim "Key" Kibum laughed. "Yeah right!"



Amber gestured towards Eli, who was walking towards Maya. He said, "Maya, how are you?"



Everyone paused because guys like Eli never talked to just anybody. Maya answered casually, "Tired. You?"



"I'm fine. Look, Soohyun really wanted your number but he's too scared to ask. So I was wondering if you could... Y'now...?"



Maya smiled but said, "Tell Soohyun, if he really wants it, he has to ask himself."



Eli gulped and he quietly whispered, "Okay, fine. I really wanted your number."



Maya nodded. "Good boy."

Joohyun shyly whispered, "And this is the copy room."



Maya whispered, "Can we go in?"



Joohyun hesitated before she answered a yes and lead them into the small room that was very dim inside. The room was even smaller than a walk in closet. Joohyun jumped a little when she heard Maya shut the door a little too loudly.



She turned around, but only to be faced by a very close Maya. Maya smiled and whispered, "It's really nice in here."



Joohyun whispered nervously, "Uh-uh huh... "



Maya got closer and kissed Joohyun.
