Death takes me for a walk back to places in the past
Again Death takes me by the hand.
This time I decide to follow him.
He wants to show me something,
I’ve missed throughout my life.

In this case Death is my friend,
He‘s trying to show me,
there is more to live for,
Than being a vagabond
Lost in plain sight.

So we walk, we walk through time.
We go back to places, I’ve never truly seen.

Like a zombie I was there,
Barely breathing.
Never understanding.

When Death looks at me
He can peer into my soul,
Which is something I’ve kept on guard.

I do not like to open myself up
for people to see.
I have so much to hide,
Things I’m ashamed of.

I’ve pondered so many times,
The meaning of life.
Why are we here?
Is there something more we are meant for?

There has to be.
This isn’t me,
This isn’t who I am meant to be.

Death’s hands are not cold today.
The warmth is spreading up my arm.
It’s beginning to touch part of my soul,
That I’ve never truly felt before.

The barbed wire around my heart,
Is loosening.
With each step I take,
I feel more and more alive.

Is that all it took?
A walk with death to show me.
To walk side by side,
And see life through his eyes.

Closing my eyes,
I savor the last of my sorrow’s.
Opening my eyes,
I see the world as He has always seen.

Here in this moment,
Finally able to breathe.
Death has saved me,
Holding onto his sight,
Today I will begin my life.
