Today's Memories

Today I think of the hurt deep in my heart,
You put there when you said we must part.
I have tried so hard to forget your memories,
Putting an end to them has pain and misery.

We can't change events once they're gone,
Let's remember experiences so they live on.
All of our sweet love was not meant to die,
God knew what to do and the reasons why.

I did my best to keep our love true and alive,
So the harder I tried the more I had to strive.
Our love has died and the spark burned out,
Left me to suffer in pain of mine, no doubt.

It hurts me a lot to know you are not mine.
That we won't rekindle our love a short time.
I will wait forever if I must just to please you.
I know your memory won't leave me it's true.
