About a guy named Jim who ppl pick on but narrator likes him OK.
Why do people pick on him?
What is the matter with Little Jim?
It's not his fault his father's crazy
or his mother drinks, and his brother's lazy.
It's not his fault he can't do math
and when he can't, he just gets mad.
It's not Jim's fault his sister sleeps
with anything that has 2 feet.
It isn't Jim's fault he has no friends
and the one he has never lets him win.
Jim is not like others, see,
so that's why people bully.
He isn't popular but he's just sweet.
He cheers me up, he rubs my feet.
He's not that good-looking, that much is learned,
only because half his face is burned.
It's his father's fault that Jim gets beaten,
and why half the trash is always half-eaten.
Jim eats at school; he eats a bunch.
When Jim comes over, I see fresh cuts
but though he won't say, I know enough
that his mother beats him nearly to death
almost to the point, he loses his breath.
Jim never cries, even when he's whipped--
never screams out, his lid never flips.
He never says "get over it" when I think I'M hurt.
He only hugs me and lend me his shirt
for me to cry on and he smiles
with comfort in his eyes.
I tell the teachers but none try to listen.
It's like they pretend nothing is happening.
I don't see what's wrong with my boyfriend, Jim...
So...

Why do people pick on him?
