Underneath the canopy
Of red orange and gold
she strained and blended
her faded sunset brilliance
A blanket on the earth
Her beauty was untold
Stark
alone in a sea of colors
Her ashy branches
Snaking along yellow and green tufts
Where life still is
Her snowy branches
Stretching towards heaven
High above the others
