Tetrapharmakos
A vital guide to life
If it would be followed an end to world strife
Four commanding lines
Written so assuming
From a wise author
Who almost seem to knew me
Don’t fear god
The first line of instruction
For gods be merely hypothetical
Rather than a construction
Don’t worry about death
The second line of this teaching
For we who exist can show it
And those who are dead don’t know it
What is good is easy to get
The third line of this tale
For sustenance and shelter can be acquired by anyone
While indulgency and Gluttony can make those undone
What is terrible is easy to endure
The fourth line of this riddle
For illness and pain are ever so hollow
And pleasure is always sure to follow
So there you have it the four part cure
An all encompassing remedy to be for sure
Founded by the ancient epicureans in their way
Now resurrected for today
