Just something written off the top...I welcome comments

Snowed In

With drifts of snow piled high
we're confined to this place..
no other place to resign.

The wintery wind blows cold
howling and strong,
aching to the bone.

Though the fire burns here still-
warmth, we can't find enough..
can't seem to get rid of the chill.

Mugs of steaming coffee fill our hands.
The heat warming more than our bodies-
our souls demand.

Not quite sure what to do with ourselves,
small talk is bypassed
and silence fills our unspoken words.

But soon the fire light plays tricks with our eyes.
My heart pounds in my ears,
the heat in the room has magnified.

You must have felt it too,
because no sooner had I blinked
when I saw you move.

Your hands touched my cheek,
asking a question
that my lips were silently answering.

A touch, a kiss,
whispered word play.
The world outside sees nothing amiss,

love exchanged.
