A sea of ivory strecheth out before
my waiting fingers, itching to compose
a melody of minor I implore
to bid a world of violence peaceful close
My requiem foregoes this noble jaunt;
An elegant self-portrait clearly rings.
My light, now out forever, not to haunt
my legacy of hammers upon strings
My notes forever floating in the breeze,
immortalized for many ages long.
Though time will bring the nations to their knees,
Its fingers cannot touch my final song
Though I myself have left here, heavens knows
my legacy shall never decompose.
