As I approach my seventy-fifth year on earth,
I'll share my thoughts, for what they are worth.
The thought of romance has flown from my head,
yet I am still among the living, sure not dead!
Memories still flutter inside this aging brain,
some of them give me notions of terrific pain.
I've loved, I've lost and still I crave the touch
of a someone who would care so very much.
Valentine's Day has come and gone again,
I haven't got a real valentine since I began
to add just a pound or two here and there,
and notice there is more silver in my hair.
So where is the romance, where is Romeo?
There is more to life than we old folks know!
I would settle for a friend who'd take my hand
and walk along with me to the promised land.
Do not shed a single tear for such as I,
for I will not let this old world pass me by.
Romance is over-rated, that is the fact,
Friends will be there, giving what I lack!
