SONG OF IRELAND There is an old, old song of Ireland, where green hills meet a clear blue sky. I heard it once in Dublin's fair city, a melody so haunting, as I passed by. The lyrics had a very special rhythm, that begged my feet to keep time. A brogue that brought me gladness, a feeling that everything was fine. The beauty of the Irish countryside will remain forever in my memories, and the friends that I made there have endured, far across the seas. I found love, loyalty and friendship that made my young heart sing, To the waters of the river Shannon and the gift of a Claddagh ring. From the quaint village of Tipperary to the Blarney Castle, rising up above, It was in Ireland I found my heritage, it was in Ireland I found my true love. Hills so full of the old Irish music that made the leprechauns dance, I would find my way back to Ireland - Oh, if only I had the chance! Countrymom 3/8/11 24 Lines \ |
