Part of a series of pictures of growing up.(which I may do soon)
Growing

Still exploring,
never certain
what will lie inside the mirror
Scant reflections of the taking
of another step. to clearer
visions of what I was meant to be
do I cross the unseen door?
quoth the Raven nevermore?
Still I take the time before me
as an open window to
what is unexplored and unseen
till the mirror brings the vision,
striking on the clearest window
to see the little child that needed to know
How to grow

A NEW THING

I am a new thing
I started in the usual downswing
Tendrils pushing up and out
orienting all about
tender pod, gentle stem
through dirt to sun
to nurture them
me, my strands of cellulose,
long used to keep me holding close
my millions of pairings with the others like me,
to form more cellular matrices
My matrix leading south to north
leads the way to metamorph
each round each year the fibers cling
tell the story in another ring
fibers from the last year's blood
turn into the heart of wood
while below earth a million shoots
holding water, food to roots
The strands within them to and fro
mark the way the waters flow
up against the gravity
neath the bark into the leaf
changed again by light of sun
granting life to everyone
glory for you all to see
the life cycle of a tree

And I can live my cycle
Once more.
