Mary Magdalene visits an empty tomb.
“Where have they taken my precious Lord?”

echo Mary’s whispered words in vain.

Discarded cloth - evidence of death,

seeking comfort from the sacrifice.

Darkness fills heart and desolate cave,

fingers tremble caressing the rock

once protector of his lost body.

Dropping on her knees drowned in despair

teary eyes peer into Jesus’s tomb.

Angels in white rest where once He laid.

“Please, please, they have taken his body,”

she pleads with anguish unrelenting.

Heart and soul unite in deep sorrow,

too much pain for one to bear alone.

“Mary,” one word, resolves hopelessness,

face turns to the Teacher before her.

Arms outstretched, relief and love emit.

Few words uttered, yet meaning immense.

Tortured heart freed, soul renewed by one.

A mission of divine news to share,

“He arose from death so souls may live!”
